The reviews are pretty much dead-on for this item. Yes, our packaging was mangled, but it was shrink wrapped as well and nothing was missing or damaged. Yes, the assembly instructions are bizarrely incoherent. Yes, we swore a time or two assembling it. Yes, it's by far the best bed frame we've ever used.
We are using this on a queen size bed. Once we figured out how it really went together (it helped that our last bed frame was also held together by similar clamps) the assembly was a little awkward, but not really difficult. The suggestion to set the frame up against the box spring actually worked perfectly for us. It certainly took us under 30 minutes and I can see that if you did this regularly you could probably do it in 10. No tools required.
And it is SO SOLID!! No creaks, no jolts, no sags. A great product.

Based on the glowing reviews of this bed frame on Amazon, I suggested to my son that he order this for his new bed from Home and Living on Amazon. My son ordered through Amazon this Hollywood Bed Frame with 9 Legs for his new box spring and mattress from Home and Living. His package was delivered intact, and despite his not being handy, he put together this exceptionally sturdy frame. My son commented that this frame is solid with its 9 legs and extra lateral supports - which most metal bed frames lack. This frame holds the box spring/mattress approximately 7 inches off the floor. He also commented that a frame such as this one without the wheels, stays in place much better (even when other frames have locking wheels). Overall, it's a GREAT metal frame especially made for today's heavier box springs and mattresses. It has the most legs and most lateral supports of any bed frame I've seen. I think that a lot of complaints that consumers have today about their mattresses sagging can be attributed to the inferior metal frames upon which they rest. A great metal frame such as this Hollywood Bed frame really can make a big difference to the mattresses they support.
I wanted to order this bed frame, too, for our expensive Stearns & Foster mattress. Our mattress was sinking in places due to having only 5 legs and an inferior wood support slat down the middle of the bed. Unfortunately, because our wooden bed frame is 10" off the floor and I didn't want the metal frame to show below the wood frame, I needed to find a metal bed frame that held the mattress/box spring 10" off the floor. Home and Living said that a lot of customers are ordering metal bed frames to put within their decorative wood bed frames because metal frames provide much more support.
After speaking with the helpful Home and Living customer service people, they suggested that the next sturdiest frame (compared to the Hollywood Bed Frame) that is 10" off the floor is the StablBase Ultimate Bed Frame 10" height by Serta. While it took 3 separate deliveries to get the right frame delivered to my home (the first frame was damaged, the second frame was the wrong size, but the third frame was correct!), I would not hesitate to do business with this company because of their exceptional responsiveness to me when I called with an issue. Now you might think that I'd be crazy to give an excellent rating to this company, but Denise from their customer service was so exceptional because she rapidly responded to my problems. Sometimes things go wrong, but how good a company is can be determined by their customer service AFTER you have given them your credit card. I would HIGHLY recommend Home and Living. (Because of my mishaps, they credited me with a discount toward the frame.) I don't think you will be sorry if you take the advice from Home and Living on what metal frame to purchase for your mattress and box spring. I think you can also be assured that they want you to be completely satisfied.

Having just purchased a new, and larger, mattress, I realized I needed a new frame. The two things I really liked about this bed frame was the fact that it had not only a vertical center support, but also a horizontal center support, and the fact that it is NOT on casters. There is nothing more annoying than bumping into your bed and having it roll away.... Anyway, here's the run down.
This frame arrived within two weeks of purchase. As others have stated in their reviews, the box did indeed arrive in HORRIBLE condition. Not only did the box have several holes, it was bent (thankfully the end with the clamps and legs, NOT the frame itself) and completely wrapped in industrial plastic wrap. However, the frame was NOT damaged and all of the clamps and screws were intact and still in their bag.
Set up was fairly easy, as in I did it by myself. Again, as stated in other reviews, place the clamps on the arms FIRST, two for each joint, before you try to overlap the support arms. As my mattress is a Cal. King, placing the box springs in the frame on its side (as stated in the instructions) and using that as the guide for clamping the arms was ridiculous. Instead I got a tape measure and measured out 72 inches, which resulted in about a 5 inch overlap of the arms on both sides of the center support bar. Of course, exactly how square this is is up for debate, but getting two box springs and the frame to stay in place all at the same time as I tried to clamp the arms down was too tall an order. The legs went in with no problem for me. The end protectors were a little tricky, but I managed without having to go for a hammer.
The frame only clears the floor by 6-7 inches. If you want to put totes under your bed (for those of us with storage and hoarding issues) you will need to raise the frame by at least an inch as many totes will JUST barely fit under the frame and hit the center support bar. The frame sleeps very nicely. My mattress feels firm and fully supported. And even better, this frame does not squeak at all getting into and out of bed, tossing and turning, and other...ah...activities. The legs are nicely recessed, so you don't risk your toes walking around the bed. The headboard plates seem quite sturdy, but I have not bolted my headboard to the frame.
All in all, I am very happy with my purchase and would buy this frame again.
